Launched in 1968, the Guild D-55 evolved from the D-50 as the company’s deluxe dreadnought, featuring abalone inlay, rosewood back and sides, and booming projection that attracted folk-rock and country players. Revived in the late 1990s with Westerly and later Oxnard production, the D-55 remains Guild’s crown jewel acoustic, prized for its lush overtones and roadworthy build.
