Released in 1953, the Duo Jet used a chambered mahogany body, maple top, and Dynasonic pickups (later Filter'Trons) to give Gretsch a solidbody competitor. George Harrison's black Duo Jet linked the model to British Invasion history, and it remains a favorite for roots-rock grit.
